The map of the Earth is divided into several nations which consist of several provinces. The whole game is played over a map, it is a digitalized version of the board game developed by Phillipe Thibaut. In EU4 The game starts roughly at the end of the Middle Ages, marking the beginning of the Early Modern Era, the timeline of the game is from 11 November 1444 to 3 January 1821 AD. They also know that if they want to make sales with the new game, they have to bring something new and exciting to the new title.
Developers might include some extras into the new game to make it a little different from EU4.
